I provide a unique workplace wellbeing service, offering hands on Reiki easy-to-accommodate therapy sessions that help employees to thrive at work and at home.
What does this service look like in the workplace?
I set up the treatment area in a dedicated private space in the workplace. I don't need a lot of room – just enough to comfortably accommodate my massage couch and my movement around it – but I do insist on privacy for each client. Typically, a session will last 30 minutes.
Before each treatment, I greet the client, explain what Reiki is, what the benefits are and how they may feel, and provide a quick demonstration so they know what to expect. I give them time to ask any questions and check that they’re comfortable and happy to continue. Then we begin.
After the treatment, I make sure the client feels comfortable and well and then talk them through their Energy Analysis, suggesting any tools or techniques I think they could benefit from. I give them time to ask questions and share my contact details for any further questions that may come to them later. I also follow up within 24 hours for a final wellness check.
The negative effect of workplace stress on the indivual and the employers
How does your service benefit people in the workplace?
Reiki responds to the evolving individual needs of each client – mental, physical or emotional – from one treatment to the next. Recognised benefits include:
- Alleviating stress, tension and stress-related illness;
- Alleviating the symptoms of physical and mental fatigue;
- Enabling the release of negative emotions and suppressed feelings;
- Improving sleep;
- Improving concentration and mental clarity;
- Promoting relaxation and restoration;
- Accelerating natural healing processes;
Following a treatment, many workplace clients report feeling positive, relaxed and calm. Some feel energised and brighter. Many share that they never expected to feel that way and enjoyed the treatment far more than anticipated. Some have said they can feel more productive and efficient, clearer-headed and confident.
Regular treatment can help clients to maintain a more resilient sense of wellness, I direct them to tools and techniques for managing stress, supporting general wellbeing and aiding personal development.
From a scientific perspective, there is a growing body of compelling research into Reiki and the impact it can have. Several studies into the physical and psychological benefits of Reiki have been completed by the US National Institutes of Health, and there are others (1). The combined results indicate that Reiki can indeed help in the ways I have described.
One of the most prominent recent studies was conducted at Harvard University https://lisaguyman.com/articles/reiki-articles/harvard-university-study-on-reiki/ and published in 2019. The results from this large-scale, multi-site effectiveness trial suggest that a single session of Reiki can have beneficial impact across multiple dimensions of physical and psychological health (2).
